Yang Ming Expands Far East - Latin America Service Network Through Agreements with HMM and ONE

The Latin American market is increasingly demonstrating strong appeal. According to the latest data from maritime analysis firm Alphaliner, Yang Ming has officially added two Far East - Latin America service loops to its operational portfolio.

This strategic move is realized through the establishment of slot agreements with two major partners, HMM and ONE, thereby enabling the Taiwanese carrier to ensure comprehensive coverage across both the East and West coasts of South America.

Tapping the West Coast via the NWX/AX4 Service

For its West Coast network, Yang Ming will charter slots on the NWX/AX4 service - a shipping route that was recently extended to include an additional port call at Yokohama.

This West Coast service is marketed under the SA2/NW4/AX4 codes and is directly operated by HMM and ONE. The detailed port rotation includes: Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Busan, Ensenada, Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo (Mexico), Callao, Guayaquil, looping through Yokohama before returning to Shanghai.

East Coast Operations Tied to Vietnamese Ports

On the East Coast, operations will be rolled out via the FL2/SX2 service (also known under the SSX/FL2/SX2 code), which is similarly operated by the HMM and ONE fleets.

The most notable aspect of this service is its more expansive itinerary, directly connecting South America with the Southeast Asian manufacturing hub. The detailed route passes through the ports of: Busan, Shanghai, Shenzhen (Shekou), Singapore, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, and Itapoá.

After completing cargo discharge in South America, the return voyage will loop through Singapore and make direct calls at two key Vietnamese gateways - Ho Chi Minh City (Cai Mep port cluster) and Hai Phong - before concluding the journey in Busan.

A Firm Foothold in a Rising Market

The successful integration of these two arterial services marks a highly notable step forward in Yang Ming's efforts to consolidate and boost its presence on Latin American trade lanes. This is a region currently witnessing intense competitive heat and growing interest from global shipping lines in recent months.
