MSC Extends PRS and SCS Coverage to All Mediterranean and Black Sea Ports

According to a notice dated November 4, 2026, MSC will expand the scope of its Piracy Risk Surcharge (PRS) and Suez Canal Surcharge (SCS) for cargo moving from Asia to the remaining ports in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. The revised surcharges will take effect on November 15, 2026, based on the proforma sailing date, and will remain in force until further notice.
Previously, under notices issued on September 3 and September 30, 2026, the two surcharges applied to cargo moving from Asia to selected ports in these regions. With this latest adjustment, MSC is extending their coverage to all ports across the Mediterranean, including the Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Adriatic and North Africa, as well as all ports in the Black Sea.

MSC said that security conditions and the risk of piracy around the Arabian Peninsula are affecting vessel operations and routing. These disruptions have now had a broader impact on its services.
