SAX/SAECS/SRX Service Adds Port of Algeciras to Europe – South Africa Rotation

According to the latest update from DynaLiners, the SAX/SAECS/SRX service loop connecting Europe and South Africa has recently adjusted its operational configuration by adding the Port of Algeciras (Spain) to its northbound leg.

The service is currently jointly operated by three major carriers: Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk, and Ocean Network Express (ONE).

Route Adjustment Targeted at Boosting Connectivity Efficiency

The inclusion of Algeciras has altered the existing port rotation of the SAX/SAECS/SRX service.

Under the new configuration, the itinerary will be deployed in the following order: London Gateway – Rotterdam – Bremerhaven – Algeciras – Ngqura – Durban – Cape Town – Algeciras – London Gateway.

This move establishes Algeciras as a vital hub for both the southbound and northbound legs of the service.

Enhancing Operational Flexibility for the Europe – South Africa Trade

Industry analysts suggest that adding the Port of Algeciras reflects carriers' efforts to optimize their operational networks and improve flexibility on the Europe – South Africa trade lane.

With its strategic location at the gateway to the Mediterranean, Algeciras stands as one of Southern Europe's primary container transshipment hubs. Boosting connectivity through this port is expected to better support the consolidation, transshipment, and distribution of containers moving between Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean region.

This adjustment also comes at a time when global shipping lines continue to restructure their service networks to enhance fleet utilization and adapt to prolonged fluctuations in the international maritime market.
