COSCO Shipping Launches New CPV Service: Slashing Transit Time from Yangpu Port to North America by 10 Days

COSCO Shipping Lines has officially bolstered trade capacity between Asia and North America with the launch of its new service designated CPV. The maiden voyage was executed by the vessel COSCO Santos (261.1 meters in length), which departed Yangpu International Container Terminal on January 23, carrying seafood, chemical products, and transshipment cargo from Southeast Asia and South Asia destined for Seattle.

A New Gateway from Yangpu Port

This new service marks a significant milestone as the first shipping route connecting the Far East with the Pacific Northwest (US and Canada) to be operated directly from Yangpu Port, part of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The CPV service offers direct connections to Seattle (USA) and Vancouver (Canada). From these gateways, cargo can access deep into the domestic markets (hinterlands) of the US and Canada via multimodal access systems.

Optimizing Logistics Time and Costs

One of the greatest competitive advantages of the CPV route is its ability to cut transit times by 7 to 10 days. This not only helps exporters lower logistics costs but also accelerates capital turnover.

Shortening the sailing time expands shipping options for cargo originating from Southeast Asia, enhancing supply chain resilience while robustly supporting the trade of agricultural, industrial, and consumer goods.

Elevating Yangpu’s Logistics Role

This route also contributes to solidifying Yangpu Port's role as a regional logistics hub. With ongoing infrastructure upgrades, zero-tariff policies, and an international ship registration regime, Yangpu is steadily affirming its position as a pivotal gateway for both Chinese and international trade.
