CMA CGM to Acquire Crystal Aero Solutions, Expanding Aircraft Maintenance Capabilities

The CMA CGM Group has entered into a preliminary agreement to acquire Crystal Aero Solutions, a European aircraft maintenance service provider. The transaction marks another strategic step in CMA CGM’s expansion into the air cargo sector while enhancing technical support capabilities for the growing fleet of CMA CGM AIR CARGO.

Crystal Aero Solutions Operates Maintenance Facilities Across Key European Aviation Hubs

Headquartered at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France, with additional operational facilities in Brussels and Liège, Belgium, Crystal Aero Solutions specializes in line maintenance and light maintenance services for both cargo and passenger aircraft.

The company also provides international engine technical support services, particularly across the African and Asian markets.

Since 2024, Crystal Aero Solutions has been responsible for maintaining the CMA CGM AIR CARGO fleet.

Strengthening Fleet Support and Operational Reliability

According to CMA CGM, bringing aircraft maintenance expertise in-house will help improve fleet efficiency, increase fleet availability, and reinforce the Group’s presence at key aviation hubs across Europe.

The transaction remains subject to the completion of employee consultation and notification procedures required under applicable regulations.

Following completion of the acquisition, Crystal Aero Solutions will continue operating as an independent maintenance service provider while maintaining support for third-party airlines and aircraft operators. The company’s existing management team will also remain in place.

Supporting the Growth Strategy of CMA CGM AIR CARGO

Damien Mazaudier, Senior Vice President of CMA CGM’s Air Division, described the acquisition as an important milestone in the Group’s air cargo development strategy.

He stated: "As our fleet continues to grow, we will be able to rely on the expertise and know-how of Crystal Aero Solutions’ teams to support our operations across several strategic platforms and support the continued growth of CMA CGM AIR CARGO."

In recent years, CMA CGM has significantly increased its investments in the air cargo sector to complement its existing logistics network. The acquisition of Crystal Aero Solutions is expected to strengthen the Group’s internal technical capabilities while enhancing quality control and operational efficiency as its aircraft fleet continues to grow.
