CMA CGM Raises FAK Freight Rates on Asia–Europe and North Africa Trade Lanes

CMA CGM has released its revised Freight All Kinds (FAK) tariff for cargo moving from Asia to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. The new rates will apply to all eligible sailings departing between 15 July and 31 July 2026.

FAK Rates for Asia–Northern Europe

For shipments from Asia to Northern Europe, CMA CGM has set the following FAK rates:

●    USD 4,100 per 20-foot dry container (20DC)

●    USD 7,000 per 40-foot container, including 40-foot dry containers (40DC), 40-foot high cube containers (40HC), and 40-foot reefer containers (40RF)

These rates apply to cargo originating from all Asian ports, including Japan, Southeast Asia, and Bangladesh, destined for all ports in Northern Europe, including the United Kingdom and ports stretching from Portugal to Finland and Estonia.

FAK Rates for Asia–Mediterranean and North Africa

For shipments from Asia to the Mediterranean and North Africa, CMA CGM has announced the following FAK rates by destination region:

●    Western Mediterranean: USD 5,800 per 20-foot container and USD 7,900 per 40-foot container.

●    Adriatic: USD 6,000 per 20-foot container and USD 8,100 per 40-foot container.

●    Eastern Mediterranean: USD 6,200 per 20-foot container and USD 8,500 per 40-foot container.

●    Black Sea: USD 5,900 per 20-foot container and USD 8,000 per 40-foot container.

●    North Africa: USD 7,300 per 20-foot container and USD 10,400 per 40-foot container.

Among all destination regions, North Africa will be subject to the highest FAK rates, at USD 7,300 per 20-foot container and USD 10,400 per 40-foot container.

Scope of Application and Additional Charges

The revised FAK tariff applies to a broad range of cargo and container types, including:

●    Dry Cargo

●    Reefer Cargo

●    Out-of-Gauge (OOG) Cargo

●    Paying Empty Containers

According to CMA CGM, the rate adjustment is intended to support service quality and improve operational efficiency across its Asia–Europe network.

The carrier also noted that the published FAK rates include only the base ocean freight and fuel-related surcharges. Depending on the shipment, customers may also be subject to additional charges, including Terminal Handling Charges (THC), EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) compliance costs, safety and security surcharges, contingency surcharges, and other applicable local charges.
